We’ve Booked a £15,000 Virgin Voyages Cruise Cabin. Have We Lost Our Minds?

We have made some fairly extravagant cruise decisions before, but this might be our biggest one yet.

In September, we will be sailing aboard Virgin Voyages’ Brilliant Lady from Seattle to Vancouver, and we have booked a Mega Rockstar Suite costing around £15,000.

Yes, you read that correctly.

Fifteen thousand pounds.

For one cruise cabin.

Jon was very much in favour of the idea. Jordan was not completely against it, but he definitely needed a lot more convincing.

So, have we completely lost our minds?

The most expensive cruise cabin we have ever booked

This is easily the most expensive cabin we have ever paid for.

We have sailed in luxury cabins before, including MSC Yacht Club, but spending £15,000 on one Virgin Voyages sailing feels like an entirely different level.

The suite is part of Virgin Voyages’ Mega Rockstar category, which sits above the standard Rockstar Suites and comes with a much more premium experience.

That includes a larger suite, an in-room bar, priority treatment, a dedicated Rockstar Agent and a range of extra benefits designed to make the sailing feel as seamless and indulgent as possible.

At least, that is the idea.

The real question is whether any cruise cabin can genuinely feel worth £15,000.

Jon said yes. Jordan needed convincing

Jon was sold on the idea fairly quickly.

Jordan’s first reaction was much more sensible.

Why spend that much on one cruise when the same money could pay for several other sailings?

Would we genuinely use all the extra benefits?

Could a cabin ever be luxurious enough to justify such a huge price?

And perhaps most importantly, would we regret it once the initial excitement had worn off?

Those are all completely reasonable questions, particularly when you consider that we could still enjoy the same ship, restaurants, entertainment and destinations from a much cheaper cabin.

Jon’s argument was simple.

This would be a completely different type of cruise experience from anything we had done before, and possibly something we would never choose to do again.

Eventually, Jordan agreed.

Although “agreed” might be slightly generous.

He eventually stopped saying no.

What is a Virgin Voyages Mega Rockstar Suite?

Mega Rockstar Suites are Virgin Voyages’ highest suite category.

They are designed to offer the most premium version of the Virgin Voyages experience, with larger accommodation, upgraded service and extra benefits throughout the sailing.

Depending on the specific suite, features can include:

  • A spacious bedroom and living area
  • A large private terrace
  • An in-room bar
  • A dedicated Rockstar Agent
  • Priority boarding
  • Priority restaurant and entertainment assistance
  • Access to Richard’s Rooftop
  • Premium drinks and additional onboard benefits

We are especially interested to see how useful the Rockstar Agent actually is and whether the service feels noticeably different from staying in a normal cabin.

It is easy to read a list of benefits and think it sounds impressive.

It is much harder to decide whether those benefits are worth several thousand pounds.

Why this sailing could be incredible

Brilliant Lady is the newest addition to the Virgin Voyages fleet, and our sailing takes us from Seattle to Vancouver.

We are excited to experience the ship, explore the suite and find out what Virgin Voyages does differently from the other cruise lines we have sailed with.

We are also looking forward to the full Virgin atmosphere, including the restaurants, entertainment, nightlife and Scarlet Night.

The suite should give us plenty of space to relax, enjoy the views and experience a side of Virgin Voyages that most passengers never see.

There is every chance it could become one of the best cruise experiences we have ever had.

Why it could also be a very expensive mistake

The problem is not whether the suite will be good.

For £15,000, it should be very good.

The problem is whether it can possibly feel good enough to justify the price.

There are also some practical risks.

Our sailing takes place in September between Seattle and Vancouver, so the weather may not always be ideal for making full use of the terrace.

We could also find ourselves spending most of the time exploring the ship rather than using the suite.

The normal cabins on Virgin Voyages are already well designed, and passengers in those cabins still have access to the same restaurants, shows and public spaces.

It is entirely possible that the Mega Rockstar experience will feel incredible while also feeling impossible to justify financially.

Both things can be true at the same time.

What we will be sharing from Brilliant Lady

We do not sail until September, so we cannot tell you yet whether it is worth the money.

What we can promise is that we will show you the entire experience.

That will include:

  • Arriving at the terminal
  • The Mega Rockstar boarding experience
  • Our first reaction to the suite
  • A complete cabin tour
  • The in-room bar
  • The terrace
  • The Rockstar Agent service
  • The restaurants and entertainment
  • Scarlet Night
  • The Brilliant Lady ship experience
  • Our final honest verdict

We want to find out exactly what paying £15,000 changes and what remains exactly the same as it would in a cheaper cabin.

Most importantly, we will answer the question Jordan has been asking from the beginning.

Was it worth it?

Have we lost our minds?

Possibly.

Jon remains very excited.

Jordan remains deeply suspicious.

At this point, we have made the booking, paid the money and committed ourselves to finding out.

There is no turning back now.

Would you spend £15,000 on one luxury cruise cabin, or would you use the same money to take several different cruises?
